PSI seeks entrepreneurial, dynamic candidates for the position of Administration and Finance Technical Advisor to the Society for Family Health (SFH), PSI’s affiliate in South Africa. This management team-level position is based in Johannesburg and will report to the SFH Country Representative in South Africa.
SFH is the largest social marketing organization and local non-profit organization in South Africa, with eleven regional offices across the country and over 300 staff members. SFH implements diverse public health interventions in HIV/AIDS and reproductive health. SFH activities range from product sales and distribution to behavior change communication, HTC, Male Circumcision, research, and community mobilization. SFH’s donor platform includes PEPFAR through CDC, the Global Fund for HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, WHP, the Dutch, and numerous other donors.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Administration and Finance Technical Advisor will be responsible for building the capacity of personnel and systems within SFH and mentoring senior national staff members on finance and administration during a 24 month period. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Build SFH capacity in accounting, financial controls, procurement, administration, budgeting and project financial management. More specifically build capacity of SFH Senior Management and the Director of Admin and Finance to:
• Strengthen finance/and accounting systems to ensure compliance with SFH, PSI and donor regulations;
• Create and manage annual budgets and divisional budgets;
• Assess work and Lawson process flows and streamlining processes;
• Ensure proper financial management and monitoring of donor-funded projects, including monthly analysis and forecasting
• Prepare internal and external budgets as needed, including project budgets, donor crosswalks, budget realignments and project pipelines, salary charging guides; and train senior national staff members to do so
• Liaise with PSI/HQ on admin and finance issues and facilitate senior national staff to access PSI/HQ resources;
• Establish and monitor SFH's policies and procedures to minimize risk to the organization, particularly relating to contract and subcontract administration;
In addition to capacity building the Technical Advisor will be asked to:
• Promote staff development and growth opportunities through professional training programs, seminars, performance management and mentorship;
• Provide input at the management level to identify/resolve issues/concerns, to reduce organizational risk, and maximize revenue; and
• Fulfill other programmatic and administrative functions as required.
